Dr. David Turok, who has offices in Fox River Grove, Naperville and Lincoln Park, uses a procedure called Smart Lipo, or laser lipolysis, which requires only local anesthesia and tiny incisions.
SmartLipo was approved by the FDA in October 2006 and made available last January. This new technology for fat reduction and liposuction uses a pulsing laser to liquefy fat. The Northwest Herald reported on Dr. Turok just before Christmas of 2007, revealing that Turok’s patients range from people in their 20s to their 60s and a wide variance of income groups. "There is no typical client," Turok said. However, Dr. Turok will perform liposuction only on patients within 20 percent of their ideal weight. Liposuction is not a weight-loss technique, rather, it is meant to help clients spot and reduce stubborn and disproportionate areas for people who already have tried through diet and exercise.
